The PLUS fit is not simply a larger standard size. It provides additional room through key leg measurements for customers whose calf and thigh circumferences fall outside the standard Catherine size chart, including those with increased limb circumference associated with edema or venous stasis.

Like the standard Catherine, this closed-toe thigh-high features a silicone-free upper band designed for use with a garter belt, making it an important option for customers who need firm thigh-high compression but cannot tolerate—or prefer to avoid—silicone stay-up bands.

Compression Level

Compression is strongest at the ankle and gradually decreases as it moves up the leg, helping support venous and lymphatic return.

This firm therapeutic level may be appropriate as part of the management of lymphedema-related swelling, edema, chronic venous insufficiency, venous stasis, varicose veins, and other conditions associated with persistent lower-extremity swelling when prescribed or recommended by a qualified healthcare provider.

If you are using compression to manage lymphedema, significant edema, venous disease, or another diagnosed medical condition, follow the compression level and wearing schedule recommended by your healthcare professional.

Standard or PLUS?

Choose Standard Catherine when your ankle, calf, and thigh measurements fall within the standard size chart.

Choose Catherine Plus when your ankle measurement corresponds to Catherine but your calf and/or thigh circumference requires additional room according to the PLUS size chart.

Do not choose PLUS simply because you normally wear a plus-size clothing size. Medical compression should be selected using actual leg measurements. The PLUS version is designed around larger lower-limb circumferences rather than general clothing size.

Fit Note

Correct measurements are especially important with firm therapeutic compression. Measure the ankle, calf, and thigh according to the Catherine size chart and use the PLUS chart only when your leg circumferences indicate the need for the additional room.

For customers managing lymphedema or significant edema, measurements are generally best taken when swelling is at its lowest or according to the instructions of your healthcare provider or compression fitter.

The stocking should feel firm and supportive but should not cause pain, numbness, unusual color changes, cold toes, or deep constriction. If these occur, remove the garment and consult your healthcare provider or compression fitter.

Important Wear Note

Catherine does not contain a silicone stay-up band and is not designed to remain securely at the thigh on its own. It should be worn with a compatible garter belt or suspender system.
